NEWCASTLE’S UTTERLY ORIGINAL ADVENTURE
CORRESPONDENT IS BACK FROM ALASKA!

Thanks to his winning Newcastle tattoo, Carlos has just returned from an unforgettable adventure in Alaska’s Kenai Fjords National Park.

“Prior to departure, I researched what we should expect in Alaska, but no amount of pictures or reading could truly have prepared me for what we found.”

After arriving in Anchorage, Carlos first set off to the Kenai Riverside Lodge. Jetlag was beginning to take a toll, but all was well when he was greeted with some welcoming provisions. “We checked in to our private cabin to find it stocked with Newcastle swag and a cold six-pack waiting for us to enjoy!”

Days three and four were full of action and adventure, one of which included a rafting trip down the Upper Kenai River. “The rapids were mellow, but we could not help rubbernecking with amazement at all the mountains, trees, wildlife, and the aqua blue river water.”

The sightseeing cruise to the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge was nothing short of spectacular. “The boat
ride was an incredible way to travel since the scenery was constantly changing. It was full of glaciers, sinking mountains, and wildlife including puffins, orcas and otters.” Following the wildlife expedition, Carlos decided on the perfect spot in the Alaskan wilderness to propose to his girlfriend. (She said yes!)

The next day Carlos embarked on an all-day kayak trip to Aialik Glacier, which included a surprising encounter with a three-foot tidal wave. “After a particularly loud thunder of ice came crashing down, our guide encouraged us to move. Instinct and adrenaline sent us over the rocky terrain in our unforgiving rubber boots, and we reached safety.”

“This was definitely the most utterly original place either one of us has ever been to. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We would like to give a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible for us.”

Rafting, glaciers, tidal waves, and some ice-cold Newcastles. What more can you really ask for?
